Decorated Army officer in SC over exclusion
New Delhi:
A decorated retired army officer along with seven other residents of Assam has challenged exclusion of their names and their family members from National Register of Citizens for the state before the Supreme Court, which on Wednesday issued notice to Centre and state government.
“All the cases of eight petitioners prima facie indicate different superfluous reasons of non inclusions of genuine Indian citizens. It is a classic examples how numerous genuine Indian citizens are wrongly excluded by the authority despite submission of all valid document,” they said. Thapa in his petition said that he had been awarded multiple occasions for his outstanding service rendered to the nation and was felicitated on the occasion of Republic Day in 2012.
